Nursery

Well, we've begun work on the baby's room. The theme is POLAR (Polar bears and Penguins).

We started by clearing everything out of the room and painting the walls and trim. The bottom third is a light, cheerful blue color (to represent the water and ice in the polar caps) and the top third is a cheerful peach color (to represent the dusk/dawn most often seen in the polar caps). The trim and doors are a shiny white to represent ice and snow.

We had a very talented painter (Craig from Muralicious) come in and paint a "polarscape" mural in the nursery to make the peach and blue paint complete. You see the photos to the left. Isn't the work INCREDIBLE?! I LOVE IT!! I highly recommend him to ANYONE wanting a stellar, yet affordable mural!

And, yes, we realize these animals reside in different polar caps, so we're taking some creative license by putting them both in the same room.

David also put up shelves about 2 feet from the ceiling (out of the way of the gorgeous murals) to proudly display Baby Beep's (and my) growing collection of stuffed Polar Bears and Penguins. It looks fabulous! He also built some shelves in the closet. He's such a handyman!

I bought some polar bear and penguin material to curtains out of. I think they turned out pretty fun. They are hung with cute little ceramic penguin hooks.

Since we were unable to find Polar Bear or Penguin crib bedding, we had it custom-made by a terrific seamstress named Larissa for a very reasonable price. It matches the light blue/light peach walls and looks great with our crib. We highly recommend her, she did a fantastic job. She can do nearly anything you desire! She is very reasourceful in coming up with fabrics. You can contact her via email at sacgal29@aol.com.

We also have a bunch of great used baby items! We got them all for a great deal used off of CraigsList.org so far (I LOVE that site!):

We also have a glider to rock the baby in. That and the bassinet as well as some other essential baby items are all temporarily downstairs in our master closet until he is only waking up once per night and is ready to move upstairs into his crib.

Below are also a couple of pictures of the new polar bear prints we hung in the bathroom off the nursery. We painted the walls the same peach color as the nursery.
