The XK8 has been my dream car ever since I first layed eyes on its sleek body style back in 1996 in a Car and Driver Magazine. It was love at first sight, no doubt. Someday I had to have that car. Had to. So I saved and I waited patiently til the time was right. Finally in August of '00 the proper time and proper deal arrived.
It's a gold (topaz) '98 coupe (don't care for convertibles) with a light tan leather and polished walnut-trimmed interior. It has chrome wheels, traction control system and all kinds of gadgets I haven't even figured out yet! It is an automatic (refreshing for a change) and has a Harman Kardon sound system with a 6 CD changer. Nice!
I bought it from Autobahn Motorcars in Fort Worth, TX (thought I'd give them a little plug).
The reason I love the XK8 is because it is the perfect compromise between sport and luxury. With a super fast V-8 engine producing 290 horsepower, I'm able to get a super rush! Yet it drives smooth as silk and has all the pleasantries of a top of the line luxury car.
I love all sports cars, pretty much, but I started out with bad luck. My first car, an '83 Supra, had a leaky sun roof, windshield wipers that didn't shut off, a crack in the head gasket, broken cruise, many flat tires, bad alternator, broken tape player and so many other things I've blocked out of my mind.
But my luck changed when I bought my '91 Eagle Talon as a college graduation gift to myself. I had it for two years and not much ever went wrong with it. It was a fantastic car. Black, cool, slick and quick! Visit the Talon/Eclipse/Laser Web Site at http://www.dsm.org.
