My Journal- Janurary thru May 1999

Tues. May 25, 1999

Just so you know, this year I've been taking exercise and diet pretty seriously. Not obsessive seriously-- believe me on that one. But decently seriously. I'm trying to lower my cholesterol while loosing some body fat and gaining some muscle.

My new years resolution was to look decent this summer in a bikini. And I'm getting there... I really am, I've been sticking to my workout regimin very well and my diet so-so. I eat decent meals all week, but I really slip on the weekends due to restaurants and parties and sleeping in and all that. I know to make any significant change in myself, I have to be really serious about it, even on the weekends, and be very strict with what I let myself eat. But it's so hard. I'm so horrible at being even 90% good! I can't do it! I don't even WANT to do it. I mean, when you are hungry and are CRAVING a hostess cupcake or something as a snack, how do you convince yourself you don't want it? I mean... cuz I've tried everything. I've tried eating other things that are healthier so that I get full... I've tried picturing myself as a fat slob... I've tried picturing myself as where I *want* to be for motivation... I've tried forcing myself to stay at my desk... I've tried watching other people eat a cupcake... I've tried not having any money so I can't buy one from the vending machine... I've tried smelling someone else's cupcake... I've tried everything.

I also want you to know it's not like I deprive myself of sweets. At lunch I have a non-fat pudding cup, for dinner's dessert I'll usually have a Snackwell's Low Fat Mini Icecream Sandwich! So, see! I'm not depriving myself of chocolate or sugar. It's important you undestand! Yet, despite all this, my body still tells me it wants an afternoon cupcake!!! My mind doesn't want a cupcake, but my tastebuds and my tummy tell me differently. I can't control the urge I feel to eat a cupcake. Please tell me... what do you do? I know I'm supposed to try to look at food as "fuel" only, but I can't do that. I think of food as a delicious aspect of life. My mouth waters for a chocolate hostess cupcake with a rich creamy center filling. My mind is consumed with the cupcake and the fudgy frosting that covers it. I can't do any work, I can't think of anything else. HELP!!!!

That's IT! I'm going to the Vending Machine! Two little hostess cupcakes surely can't ruin me, right? Surely! I will just work out extra hard tonight! Yeah... I DESERVE a hostess cupcake, Damnit! Hold on... I'm going! I'll be right back.

erggghhhrrghh!

I don't Believe this! The vending machine is out of order! Our vending machine is NEVER out of order! Fate is telling me NOT to have a cupcake. I can see them sitting there, behind the glass of the vending machine. Taunting me... calling to me. Ready to fall within my reach at the insertion of seventy-five cents and the press of C-7. They look so good, so moist... so tasty... so sinful. I'm in the desperate need for a chocolate fix. Oh why don't I have some hidden away in my desk drawer? There is nothing else I can eat that will subside this desire for a high-fat chocolate treat. I am incomplete. I am un-whole. I am deprived. I am... well... pathetic.

Star Wars... The Phantom Menace!

Eh... don't worry, I won't say anything revealing in here about the movie, I promise. All I wanted to say was that I saw it last night (opening night) and it was really good! I liked it! And, mind you, I'm just an mediocre Star Wars fan. My brother also went to see it, and he (being a fantatic) loved it as well! So that's pretty good news. Two thumbs up from the Aron Siblings!

I'm having a party this weekend. It's my first party at my new place. I've had about 18 people RSVP and I'm a little concerned cuz my place and yard are so small. HAHA! But, I guess, if I fit 20 people in my small 2 BR apt two Christmases ago, I guess I can fit 18 people in my house, right?

We're having a cook-out. I've got to go to the store Sat. and buy a bunch of burgers, brats and chicken and stuff. Plus, I bought a gas grill, and I've got to figure out how it works. I know I need to get some of that propane stuff from K-Mart, but that's about all I know. Hope the weather is good this weekend.

I'm so proud of my brother. He graduated college last weekend with his BS in Management of Computer Sciences.

Here's a photo of Jon and Dad at his Graduation Ceremony:

Jon starts his first professional salaried job this upcoming Monday! He's going to make great pay, too... what a good kid! He's even bought a Mercury Cougar! I'm impressed! He has good taste in cars! Well, the car may be NEWER than mine, but at least I can take solace in the fact my car can kick his car's butt in a race. heeheehee! He is also moving into an apartment in Pewaukee with his best friend, Aaron! Talk about a lot of changes going on for him.

Puh! I remember when I graduated college. I had been desperately looking for jobs in Advertising starting six months before my graduation date. Couldn't find didly-squat, so I ended up moving home and working as a Waitress full-time while interviewing and sending out resumes and copies of my portfolio. After 6 months, I got so fed up and decided to temporarily give up on the copywriting thing. The first job I applied for outside of that area offered me a job! Hallelujiah! At that point in time, ANYTHING was better than waitressing! Actually took a pay cut, though! That is the funniest part! But it was well worth it, cuz I love where that job took me and you certainly wouldn't be reading this right now had I not taken the job with Frontier Technologies and become their webmaster. And shortly after, I re-moved out of my parents' place and got my own apartment with my then-boyfriend, Wade. That job changed my life.

I don't know that this job with Generac that Jon took will change his life as dramatically as my first job changed mine, as he's been interning there for a couple years now, but I do know it'll lead him to great places! Actually, I'm hoping the job isn't TOO insteresting for him cuz next year this time I want him to move down to Dallas with his girlfriend, Theresa. He can even bring his Cougar! I'll whoop his ass! Of course, by then... I'm hoping to have my Jaquar XK8. OH YEAH!! Of course, in a couple years, my brother will probably own a Lamborghini. ;-D

HAPPY GRADUATION JON! I'M VERY PROUD OF YOU!

Ah yes! Feels good to be back and on a new Planet, no less! ;-D

I hope you like the web site layout change as well as the change in addresses. This one I'll be sticking with for a long, long time.

Well, a lot has been going on in my life since I last wrote. Besides all the web site stuff, I have started teaching HTML classes on the weekends.

I also have been doing quite a bit of remodeling to my house, with a lot of thanks to an incredible Interior Designer named Sandra Sutton! Mon and Tue. of this week I had painters in repainting my entire family room and dining room and stairway and kitchen and hallway. The new paint job looks incredible. It's a subtle change, but I can really tell the difference. I the walls painted a very light beige color and it really adds some "golden-ness" to the room. I had all the trim repainted to a brisk, white shade and it really stands out nicely. The new paint job has made my place look my warmer and definitely more modern.

On Monday a woman is coming to rewallpaper my kitchen. I found the most perfect paper at Home Depot. So as of mid next week, my kitchen will be completely rid of Chilipeppers! Hallelujiah!

AND, on top of that, I ordered some really nice white PVC (fake wood) blinds for the two windows in the family room and the window in the dining room and the window above my sink in the kitchen. They are going to look sooo great and will be installed towards the end of next week when the wallpaper is complete.

I'm so excited! Although this is costing me a fortune, I really enjoy it and it makes me soo happy! Plus, I do know that it will add some value to the house whenever I end up selling it. I do, also, have some other remodeling I want to do in the future. I'm planning on putting in wood laminate in the entry way (right now it is vinyl) and I want to rewallpaper the master bathroom (but I'd like to try doing it myself). I also can't WAIT to get new furniture for the family room, that will just finish everything off so perfectly! After that happens, I will retake all the photos and post the new ones up in my Photos/House section.

Perhaps the largest change in my life, though, in the past couple of weeks has been meeting Chris. I hate to brag (puh-syauh!), but he's really incredible. As you may have known, Nick and I broke up in Oct. '98 and I had been single ever since... just biding my time somewhat patiently until the right guy came along. Just when I started to think I'd be single for another 6 months (which is no big deal really), Chris shot me an email. He saw my name by networking through SixDegrees.com and saw I lived in the DFW area and decided to give me a shout. Well, I'm so glad he did, because it just so turned out that we each had a lot of the qualities we were seeking for in potential partners.

A little about Chris... (Oh, he's gonna LOVE having me write about him on my site! HAHA!) He's 31. Grew up in Weatherford, TX, went to high school in Oklahoma, and college in Texas and New Mexico, then moved to Dallas in '94 for a job. He is an only child, works as a contract computer programmer, has a house in Plano, drives a kick ass '99 red corvette, loves to workout and practice Jujitsu and Taekwondo. He is sensitive, sweet, affectionate, silly, smart and handsome. He has a Great Dane the size of a small pony! HA! He's never been married (hense, no kids) and loves to watch movies, but doesn't care much for TV (doesn't even have cable!). He's coming to WI with me for Memorial Day weekend, so that I can introduce him to my friends back home (including my brother).

Huh? You want a photo... oh all right! Here's one:

Isn't he cute??? (What's that? Is it possibe I can hear him blushing?)

Well, I have a pretty good feeling about this one, but only time will tell, so keep visiting my site and get all the best dirt here first! HAHA!

Two dogs in the back of a pickup truck goin' round a loop on-ramp.
One black dog, one white dog.
One with short fur, one with longer fur.
Both pretty big, but not too big.
Both definitely cute.
Two dogs in the back of a pickup truck walking around and looking everywhere.
Two dogs getting on the freeway in a truck which is speeding up to 70 mph.
The dogs love it, I try and catch up, but there are so many cars in the way.
I want to make eye contact with them and wave to them.
The wind is blowing their ears straight up! EEEEEEEE!
Two dogs getting headrushes by sticking their heads over the side of the truck and facing into the wind.
The white dogs' fur is blowing!
I can't catch up, gotta get over to make my exit.
There they go, speeding off - BYE DOGS!
Two happy dogs standing in back of a truck smiling.
