Trip Photos- Tahoe/Reno- January 2001

Trey and I decided to take a ski trip, which is something I have always wanted to do.
Trey has skiied many times before and loves it, so we set off to find the best
package we could and ended up finding a great one to Reno, NV which is conveniently
located within an hour to many amazing ski resorts and beautiful Lake Tahoe.
So at the same time we get the sereness of the Sierra Nevadas with the excitement
of Reno. We stayed for 5 nights and 4 full days. We decided to ski for 3 of them,
and relax for one. We chose to stay at the Atlantis Casio & Hotel which we had heard
good things about. They offered buses to three resorts: Squaw Valley, Mt. Rose & Northstar.

On our first day we decided to go ski at Mt. Rose. This was a photo taken
from the bus as we climbed higher and higher into the mountains.

Here is Mt. Rose! A great mountain for me to start on.

Here I am just before taking a first-timer ski lesson!

Here's Trey before heading off to the slopes.

This is the view from the top of Mt. Rose.

Another view.

Here are some snow-covered trees next to the ski lifts. We had a GREAT time
on Mt. Rose. I surprised myself by learning the basics of skiing pretty quickly
and only wiping out once. The weather was gorgeous... although warm! It actually
was near 60 degrees on the slopes that day!

The next day we decided to go to the larger resort, Squaw Valley. It was
breath-taking. Here's Trey and some of what you can see from 8500 feet.

Me just before skiing. Once again, later that morning the sun came out,
and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Thank goodness for sunglasses! Oh, and GO PACK!

I took this photo without knowing that Lake Tahoe was underneath those clouds.
Later in the day when the clouds burned off I was able to see the spectacular Lake.

Here is a photo of the view from Squaw Valley's High Camp.
We had a great day at Squaw and decided to go back there for our last day.

The Atlantis had a really nice indoor pool. We never swam in it, though.

Another shot of the indoor pool area.

Here is a shot of the outdoor pool and hot tub from our window on the 12th floor.

This is a view of Mt. Rose from our hotel window.

A gorgeous Nevada sunset as seen from our hotel window.

Trey and the sunset.

Myself and the sunset.

This is Lake Tahoe again our third day skiing, sans the cloud covering.

A closeup. I love the zoom on my camera!

After a wonderful third day skiing, which included me skiing a couple of BLUES,
we went back to the hotel and decided to try the All You Can Eat Buffet.
Here's Trey and a palm tree just before we pigged out.

A photo of just a PART of Buffet seating area.

This is us with the Purple Parrot our last day of the trip. The Purple Parrot was
our favorite restaurant in the Atlantis. Everything they served was delicious!
We ate there many times for dinner and even once for breakfast!

Long live the Purple Parrot!

Some slot machines. Not too busy on a Sunday night.

Here I am with one of my favorite slot machines... Little Green Men!
Reminds me of the Toy Story Alien!
We had a FANTASTIC time in Reno and Tahoe and are
already looking forward to our next ski trip in 2002.
