[ How We Met | How He Proposed | Our Wedding Day ] So you wanna hear the story of how David proposed? Well, it was very romantic and a night I'll never ever forget. In September of 2002 we took our annual vacation to Sandals Royal Bahamian in the Bahamas. On the evening of Sepember 8th, he told me to get dressed up nicely as he had made us reservations to have dinner at one of the fanciest restaurants on the Resort, Baccarat. I was excited. So I gussied myself up as much as I ever gussy up, and we left the room hand in hand and started walking towards the restaurant. When we got there, I started to lead him up the stairs to the front door, but he said No, that we were having dinner somewhere else. I was confused. He had a big grin on his face. I hesitantly followed, wondering what he was up to. Several days prior to this evening he had been sneaking around taking care of a 'secret suprise'. Perhaps this was the surprise? He led me around the corner to a beautiful white gazebo. It was set up with a candle lit romantic dinner for two. "Ahh... here we are." He said and had me take a seat. "We're still having dinner at Baccarat, but we're having it outside, here, just you and I." Our private waiter walked up to us and introduced himself and handed us menus. We soon were served the first course of our 5 course meal. The food was delicious and it was such a beautiful night. From time to time a couple would walk by and smile at us and our private dinner retreat. Before I knew it, dessert was upon us. Afterwards, David mentioned he wanted to have the waiter take a picture of us in front of the gazeebo. So we stood up and the waiter happily obliged. ![]() Right after the picture was taken, David turned to me and told me there was something he wanted to ask me. He presented a tiny box from behind his back, a warm flush feeling spread throughout my body. "My question is... will you wear this for me?" I gasped as he showed me what was in the box. "Katie, will you marry me?" He asked and tears welled up in my eyes. ![]() I looked at it incredulously. "Yes Yes Yes!" I proclaimed and he slipped the ring on my finger. I then threw my arms around him we kissed. ![]() During this time a couple who had been walking by witnessed the special event. They cheered and whistled in excitement. I laughed and excitedly ran over to the nearest lamp post to get a better look at the spectacular ring. It was gorgeous. ![]() After a few minutes of gushing 'how on earth did you' questions and excited stammering and hugs and kisses, we sat back down at the table so David could finish his after-dinner coffee. ![]()
So here we were, an officially engaged couple. I couldn't have been more excited and happy. My belly was pleasantly satisfied, my finger was pleasantly heavy and my heart was pleasantly full. And that is the story of the night David proposed to me. |
